Paprika bookmarklet lets you capture recipes from your browser!

We’ve got a really cool new update for you guys!

With past versions of Paprika, in order to capture a recipe from a website, you needed to be using Paprika’s built in web browser. That works alright, but if you’re like me, you’re often using your regular web browser when you come across a recipe you want to save for later.

Well, we’ve just released a new bookmarklet that allows users to capture recipes from any web browser, instead of having to use Paprika’s browser. Simply install the bookmarklet in your regular browser, and use it to capture recipes instead.

The bookmarklet can be set up here: https://www.paprikaapp.com/bookmarklet/.

It just requires a Paprika Cloud Sync account to know where to save the recipes to.

When you use the bookmarklet, recipes will be automatically saved to your Paprika Cloud Sync account, which will then be synced with your iPhone/iPad/Mac versions of Paprika the next time you open the app.

Try it out and let us know what you think!

How to install the bookmarklet in Mobile Safari, without having to use the Desktop Safari?

  • Joesgirl97

Can this be used on an iPad?

  • Ric Levy

To use the bookmarklet in mobile safari, just add a bookmark (for any site – it doesn’t matter), and name it “Add Recipe”. Then go into your bookmarks, press “edit” and select the Add Recipe bookmark. Delete whatever address was there and paste in the bookmarklet address instead.

    Hi there,
Sorry for the delay. Yes, it can! There are instructions for iPad installation when you log in to create the bookmarklet.

    Cheers,

Using Paprika on an ipad 2 with ios 5.  Bookmarklet works fine saving from Vista 32-bit running Firefox browser.  However, both the bookmarklet and the Paprika browser are missing the same information while saving recipes.  For instance, on Food.com, they are both missing the servings, prep time, and cook time.  Several websites aren’t saving nutritional information including allrecipes.com.

How do you get the Paprika Cloud?  I have Paprika for both iPhone and iPad, and want to add the bookmarklet app to my PC (which is what I think you are talking about here).  Any advise?

I wish you could edit the recipes you save with the bookmarklet. I get recipes from a variety of locations, not all of which are supported by Paprika so I have to manually enter them. I have no problem doing so with the iPad App’s internal browser, but theredoesn’t seem a way to do so on my desktop browser.
I love Paprika because my iPad is my primary “cook book” but it’s not the primary way I discover recipes.

A bit off the subject, but do you have any estimate as to when the next update to the Mac and iOS apps will be released? Thanks!

Damn this is great! Just bought the Mac App! Save a recipe from lecker.de, worked great!

    +1

I also get recipes from many more obscure sites that are not supported yet by Paprika, so would love to be able to manually add recipes to Paprika via the bookmarklet.

In a related note, I’ve been trying to add a couple recipes today  via the built-in browser, and getting very frustrated.  I spend time copying, marking, making sure all of my fields are filled in, then when I click “Create Recipe” it crashes!  When I go back in, it’s not in my list, so I have to go through the whole thing again…  Can you guys fix this?  Kind of a critical thing to crash just as a user is saving…

    Thanks!
